On January 14th, DEVERYWARE, EDGE and OMNITOR gathered for the first meeting of the European project AIMES, dedicated to the creation of the next generation emergency services (NG112), in which the Internet-based technologies enable a new set of capabilities to facilitate a faster, more informed and more effective emergency response.
Project AIMES – Advanced Internet-based Multimedia Emergency Services establishes a new paradigm of universal access to public emergency services, benefitting from advanced multimedia capabilities, interoperability technologies and the Internet of Things for the promotion of better health and quality of life. Using audio (voice), video, image and text communications, the citizen easily accesses the emergency services and shares their health data and location information to ensure more efficient and effective assistance, capable of saving lives. The implementation of the AIMES System consolidates the investment in innovations centered in the differentiated offer of eHealth and eEmergency care services with a pan-European breadth that will reinforce the role of Portugal’s central region as a European Reference Region for an Active and Healthy Ageing, with a high potential to attract health and wellbeing-related tourism.
The AIMES project intends therefore to contribute to a novel response to the societal challenges related with the population’s ageing process, the optimisation of citizen-centered emergency and health services’ delivery and the sustainable management and operation of healthcare and social care systems.
